Shopping Without The Guilt: Thrift For Good

Buying winter clothes is expensive especially when colder days are approaching. A decent winter outfit in cheaper brand stores costs at least 100 AED. I’m a firm believer of preloved clothes, in Filipino we call it ukay ukay. Though, I don’t recommend it now due to covid.

When the Abu Dhabi border was eased, Fridays were spent in Dubai. We had to plan our itinerary efficiently and sleep early the previous night. There are few shops that popped in Dubai with the same concept of selling second-hand clothes.

First visited the place week before my birthday. It was located in a family community area at Golden Mile Palm Jumeirah. An accessible area of shops, restaurants and a sight of Palm Monorail. I bought an LBD worth 10 AED but haven’t had the right place to wear it on.

Instead of disposing, the items were given a life. Thrift For Good accepts donations (regardless the total number of items) in exchange for a 10 AED voucher. The heavens must have heard my prayers, I was in need of winter clothes for future travels. Then, I won a giveaway from them in collaboration with Nicole Ruth of Rework Studio.

It is a Chanel repurposed necklace with faux pearls in gold plating. Luxury items can be sustainable by upcycling and turning into an elegant handmade jewelry.

Bought a total of seven items: a floral dress, knitted wool jacket, fleece hooded jacket, trench coat, satin long sleeves, men’s shorts, and a pair of knee-high boots. The coat fits perfectly and the boots were comfortable to walk in (will take an OOTD photo in the future 😉).

A new shop will open this Friday, November 26 at Times Square Center.
There will be kid’s activities, amazing products, vouchers and giveaways for the first 50 customers!
