Living in UAE where having gold (jewelry or bars) is a norm. Different gold facial treatments are available across the Emirates: Royal Retreat, Biolite Dubai and the whopping price at Palm Jumeirah for 25,000 AED. It reminds me of my first encounter with a gold mask from Too Cool For School‘s Pumpkin 24K Gold Mask at Sephora Dubai Mall. Honestly, the mask isn’t worth the price (it’s too expensive for a single mask) I’d rather have the Egg Mellow Cream (currently 5th month of use).
Back to the review, I first saw this 24K Gold Mask which costs around 100+ AED (UAE online shop I cannot disclose). Even if direct Korean online shops charge shipping fees (some have free deliveries over 50 USD purchase) it is still cheap to buy from them even if I paid taxes at the Post Office. The gold liquid is serious. Having the spatula around is convenient and rather hygienic than bristled makeup brushes. A small amount goes a long way. There is a faint smell which I only noticed after putting the mask on.
Using the wrapping technology the gold molecules: tightens the pores, brightens the skin and makes face more elastic. The brightening effect is noticeable for medium-colored Asians. It doesn’t even irritate the skin. I think it suits ALL skin types. The luxury of a gold mask in your home is sensible than to spend recklessly outside.
Overall, it’s a minus half of a point star due to its smell (though it is bearable).
