Declining a Rescheduled Flight

Last December 26 when I booked a flight from Cebu (CEB) – Incheon (ICN) via Cebu Pacific through our travel agency’s portal.

Until we received an email yesterday, January 12. Since it was registered under my husband’s name, I had to write to them on his behalf.

When I read the new schedule it felt like a kick in the butt. I have no grudges about the airline it’s just we find Manila to be a place of traffic, expensive (we spent more in Manila than we were in Japan) and a place of dragging Immigration officers. Plus a 17-hour layover in Manila (worst part of the schedule!).

There are three options a passenger can respond to this situation:
Rebook, reroute to an alternate airport or refund. There are pros and cons in choosing the one over the other. I was certain to go for a FULL refund.

The confirmation email wrote they will respond within the next 36 hours. However, the Customer Service responded in less than 24 hours. We are entitled to claim the FULL refund since it was a route change. Knowing your rights is advantageous! (we can wait for a cheaper fare the next time)

All over, this reminded me of a verse:

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
(James 4:13-15)

Thank you, Cebu Pacific! #CEBTravels
